Many paths lead to the Blasla

Over the last few weeks and days, we've received a number of enquiries from guests all related to the same topic: the new construction of the Lueg bridge on the Brenner motorway and the associated ‘how's’ and ‘what if's’ and ‘where's’. This article is therefore for all those that would like to find out more and for everyone who is hearing about it for the first time.

So what is actually going on now?

At 2 kilometres, the Lueg bridge is the longest bridge in the Austrian motorway network. It is located on the A13, which is not far from Gries am Brenner. According to ASFINAG, the bridge, which was built in 1968, has now reached a condition that can no longer be restored with renovation work alone. The conclusion: a solution must be found. The plan: rebuild the bridge. The consequence: congestion and traffic chaos.

Safety first

From 2025 onwards, the bridge will more than likely only have one lane of traffic in order to reduce the weight. That has been the case more often in the past as a result of renovation work, and you may have noticed it on a previous trip through Austria. The fact that this will permanently be the case from 2025 is somewhat unpleasant, but it shouldn't stand in the way of your holiday with us. Traffic jams and traffic chaos? Not for you! That is why we have done our homework and gathered all the information we can to make sure you get to your holiday destination safely and relaxed.

We have put together something ...

Travel by train.

It is not only environmentally friendly, but also a very pleasant way to travel, especially with children. If you book early, you can even benefit from special conditions or early bird prices. The nearest major train station is in Fortezza. From there, regional trains run to the Val Pusteria valley and there are numerous buses in the region. And they are free for you. At the beginning of your stay with us you will receive the Guestpass, which allows you to use all public transport throughout South Tyrol. Full steam ahead in summer: we also rent out e-bikes and e-Fiat 500 convertibles. So who needs to bring their own car anymore ...

Psst, did you know?

Travelling by train really pays off at the Blasla. If you travel by public transport, we will reward you with a 5% discount on the entire overnight price.

To the offer: Car-free vacation.

Think again.

Everyone travels on the weekends. By travelling during the week, you can avoid the traffic chaos. Fewer cars mean less congestion on the single-lane Lueg bridge. So everything is almost as usual. Plus: getting up early is worth it. Because while everyone else is still at breakfast, you are already out on the empty roads. Not to mention, you'll arrive at Blasla earlier and can fully enjoy the first day of your holiday. Sounds good to us!

Stay longer.

Did someone say ‘stay longer on holiday’? What a great idea! Here you have the option of arriving and leaving any and every day and are therefore not tied to the busy weekends. Treat yourself to something. Eight or nine days. More time together, more moments in nature and more holiday adventures. It is doubly worth it. Because the longer stay means you can start your return journey totally relaxed - and it stays that way thanks to the reduced traffic during the week.
